Service Description

The "Seeing My Time" course curriculum by Marydee Skylar is designed to empower middle school students with essential executive functioning skills necessary for success in academics and beyond. This engaging and interactive course focuses on helping students understand and develop their executive functions, enabling them to effectively manage their time, organize tasks, set goals, and overcome common challenges. Throughout this course, students will explore various strategies and techniques to improve their executive functioning skills, promoting self-awareness, self-regulation, and independence. By acquiring these valuable skills, students will enhance their ability to plan, prioritize, initiate tasks, maintain focus, and manage time efficiently. Course Objectives: Time Management: Students will learn effective time management techniques, such as setting realistic goals, creating schedules, prioritizing tasks, and utilizing tools to stay organized and meet deadlines. Organization Skills: Students will develop strategies to organize their materials, workspaces, and digital files, enabling them to locate resources easily and maintain a structured approach to their academic and personal responsibilities. Goal Setting: Students will understand the importance of goal setting and learn how to establish achievable short-term and long-term goals. They will explore techniques to track progress, celebrate successes, and make adjustments as needed. Task Initiation: Students will explore techniques to overcome procrastination and enhance their ability to start tasks promptly. They will learn strategies to break down larger tasks into smaller manageable steps to facilitate task initiation. Focus and Attention: Students will discover methods to improve their concentration and sustain attention during various activities. They will explore strategies to minimize distractions, manage interruptions, and engage in mindful practices. Self-Advocacy: Students will develop skills to effectively communicate their needs, seek assistance when necessary, and advocate for themselves in academic and social settings. They will learn to ask for help, clarify expectations, and collaborate with peers and teachers. Reflection and Feedback: Students will engage in reflective practices to evaluate their progress, identify areas for growth, and develop strategies for improvement. They will learn to accept and utilize constructive feedback to enhance their executive functioning skills.
